Anton Pieck
There couldn't be a better place for Anton Pieck's work than here in Gelderland's former Hanseatic town of Hattem, with its medieval town centre and dozens of lovely house fronts. And so it only makes sense that the ‘Huis voor Anton Pieck' or Anton Pieck's house was established here in 1984.
Anton Pieck is best known for his romantic illustrations and as the creative force behind the fairy tale theme park ‘De Efteling'. However, he was in fact a very versatile artist, judging from his drawings, illustrations, oil paintings and graphic work. The Anton Pieck Museum houses an extensive collection. Five rooms offer the most comprehensive and varied overview possible of Pieck's work. In addition to the famous pieces, all of which feature his signature painstakingly detailed style, special attention is given to his oil paintings and graphic works. These works have surprised many a visitor to the museum. His original etching plate and work area and bookcase are also on display.
