Burgers' Zoo
Burgers' Zoo is a very special zoo. There are over 3000 animals to discover here! You will find monkeys, antelopes, elephants, sea lions and an extensive range of birds.
Go on an adventurous trip through the safari park, where you will cross a long, covered wooden bridge. Just like the African savannah, there are giraffes, zebras, rhinos, lions and cheetahs here.
Safari
Burgers' Safari opened in 1968 when visitors first viewed the animals from their cars and later we introduced a safari bus. Since 1995 you have been able to visit the safari park on foot. You have an excellent view of savannah animals from a 200 metre long covered footbridge. With or without binoculars you can watch the behaviour of rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras and antelopes going about their daily activities in peace and tranquillity. Further on, the path leads you to a watering hole where animals come really close. From the observation posts elsewhere along the trail you can watch the big hunters, lions and leopards in comfort (or have they just retired for a nap).
Rainforest
Have you ever been in a rainforest? The rainforest is where animals live in swamps and trees. It's like that in Burgers' Zoo, too. Narrow paths and suspension bridges take you through the deep, dark jungle. See if you can spot rainforest regulars, such as manatees, aardvarks and caiman. They could very well cross your path right in front of you.Mangrove
A visit to Burgers' Mangrove is a very special experience. Here you are in a tropical mangrove forest where trees grow in brackish water. Fiddler crabs, slugs, mudskippers and other fish live between the characteristic prop and aerial roots. Elsewhere you can encounter darters, green-backed herons or Senegal kingfishers or discover the enormous turtles and sailing lizards.
Desert
Or would you rather walk around a genuine desert? You can do that, too, at Burgers' Zoo! The nature here is completely different. The desert consists of sandy flats, rock formations, dry river beds and an oasis, of course. Given the different surroundings, you will find different creatures here, such as snakes and scorpions (look out!). And large mammals, too, such as big horned sheep, and red lynx. You know who else lives in the desert? The roadrunner. That's right, from the cartoon. Meep-meep!Ocean
You can walk from the desert to the ocean. The smell of briny seawater is immediately recognisable. Suddenly, you are on the shores of a tropical ocean. Following a descending path, you slowly enter the ocean, gradually going deeper and deeper. Once you are underwater, you can admire all sorts of colourful fish in the most incredible shapes and sizes.Playground
There are plenty of opportunities to play at Burgers' Zoo, too. Zoom down the slide, swing on the numerous swing sets, go in circles on the merry-go-round, and have fun on the other equipment. Come spend a day at the zoo!
