Veluwe bicycle route network
The Veluwe, a Walhalla for bicycle enthusiasts. Not just because of the gorgeous, endless nature, either; but thanks to the tranquillity, the peace and quiet and space, the charming villages and cities, too. Bicycling through this beautiful area is pure enjoyment now that a unique web of bicycle routes has been compiled in the Veluwe bicycle route network. An excellent reason to explore the Veluwe for the first time, or come back for another visit!
Following several regions in Belgium and the Netherlands, the popular cycle route network has been introduced in Veluwe, making it easy to cycle from one junction to the next without referring to all sorts of complicated maps. It is a wonderful reason to (re)discover Veluwe by bike!
For this purpose the special ANWB Veluwe bicycle map is available at Tourist Centres and the ANWB (Dutch AA). All scenic cycle paths and quiet roads have been mapped and connected, totalling 320 junctions. More than 1600 kilometres of cycle paths cover a total of nineteen rural districts.
How does the system work?
First you cycle to the starting point, which is easy to find because the route network has been clearly signposted with green/white signs showing the junction number. Arrows point the way, including to the next and nearest junctions. What makes it even easier are the outline maps of the entire network at every junction, so you can change your route along the way.
As the distances between the junctions on the outline and bicycle maps are given in kilometres, you can change the length of your route as you wish. Have you acquired a taste for cycling in Veluwe and would you like to continue your route? Simply take your bicycle map or look at the outline map and add a few junctions to your route.
It is just as easy to shorten it, for example if you would like to take more time to enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of cake in an attractive grand café.
