Rivers, springs and streams
The Veluwe has dozens of springs and streams. Walking along these you will get a taste of water and history combined. Most are located on the perimeter of the Veluwe, at the point where the lateral moraine goes into the lower situated areas. You swill find them in the East Veluwe, the Veluwezoom and the South Veluwe. The streams have been used to channel hydropower for various uses.
As a result, the cultural history surrounding the streams is rich, featuring paper and copper mills and laundries. Country estates and castles, too, can be found in close proximity to the streams.
There are remarkable types of plants here, and the abundant vegetation around the springs and streams attracts an equally diverse range of insects including wasps, bumblebees, hover flies and butterflies.
