In the Gelderse and IJssel Valleys, you can still enjoy the peace and spaciousness of the countryside, with its hospitality and old farmsteads. Cycling through the pastures, you'll see plenty of cows and horses. Stop a while and they'll come tot the fence, curious to meet you. Meadowland birds will try to distract you from their nests, swooping and calling.

Farmhouse 'shops' offer local produce for you picnic: jam, honey and cheese made by the farmer. Country life is attractive, and it is certainly a wonderful place for a holiday, camping in the farmer's field, for example, or enjoying a long weekend with bed and breakfast included.
